The Rincon/University Rangers fell victim to the Sahuarita Mustangs''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 21-0 walloping at the hands of the Mustangs. Rincon/University's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it six in a row.
Leading Sahuarita to victory were William Thwaits and Austin Salcido. Thwaits rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, while Salcido rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Salcido's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.
Rincon/University's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.3 points per game. As for Sahuarita, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Rincon/University will take on Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sahuarita, they will head out on the road to face off against Amphitheater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
