The Memorial Red Devils will challenge the Lowellville Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Memorial has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Lowellville will arrive with five straight victories.
Memorial came up short against Mineral Ridge on Monday, falling 15-2.
Memorial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lowellville got the win against Mathews on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-5.
Tyler Tuscano made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Lowellville's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Tuscano was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kasen Smith and Kaden Primous did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Primous went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Geno Perry, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Lowellville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lowellville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Memorial suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Lowellville in their previous meeting on April 14th. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
