The Montour Spartans entered their tilt with the West Mifflin Titans with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Montour blew past the Titans 71-49. Given Montour's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Titans are ranked 287th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montour's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Wolfe led the charge by scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds. Wolfe is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last three games he's played. Ama tening Sow was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Montour's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for West Mifflin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Montour will look to defend their home court on Sunday against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Moon Area is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for West Mifflin, they will face off against the Quakers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Quaker Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
