Basketball Recap: Tucker County Piles Up the Points Against Union

Tucker County won the last time they faced Union and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tucker County Mountain Lions breezed by the Union Tigers to the tune of 73-20. The Mountain Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 35 points or more this season.

Tucker County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raven Matthews, who went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Reagan Herron was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and four steals.

Tucker County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chanelle Sutton, who posted five points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals. Sutton is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Casteel, who had four points and five rebounds.

Tucker County's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Union, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Tucker County has already played their next game (against Hampshire), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Union Tigers challenge the East Hardy Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Union is facing East Hardy at the right time seeing as East Hardy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
