It was a good run, but The Pace Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They and Navarre were almost perfectly matched up, but Pace suffered an agonizing 25-24 defeat. Pace lost against Navarre in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 23-21 score last time.
Nick Simmons and Xakery Wiedner, Pace certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Simmons rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, while Wiedner gained 100 total yards and two touchdowns. Simmons is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Connor Mathews was his usual excellent self, rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown. Andre Spence was in the mix too, providing Navarre with two touchdowns.
Pace's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Navarre, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pace will take on Milton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Milton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Navarre, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gulf Breeze at 7:30 p.m. Gulf Breeze will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Navarre is ranked 91st).
