The Carson Senators are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop Manogue Miners at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Carson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Reed, who was ranked second at the time (Carson was ranked 22nd). The Senators came up short against the Raiders on Saturday, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Senators in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost nine in a row.
Carson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Kuhlman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Mustangs. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.
Sammi Boggs made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Averie Stephan, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kiki Harris, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Bishop Manogue hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 18 consecutive games.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 19-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Bishop Manogue struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carson suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Bishop Manogue in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
