The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 67-36 loss at the hands of Crow Creek. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte of the 71-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte saw an underclassman step up: Suni Bowman dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Bowman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Buffalo-halfred, who scored six points along with three steals and two blocks.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Crow Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will head out on the road to face off against Winner at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Winner is coming into the contest with five straight defeats at home, so Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Crow Creek will take on Pine Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crow Creek is facing Pine Ridge at the right time seeing as Pine Ridge is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
