South Pike is 10-0 against Amite County since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The South Pike Eagles' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Amite County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, South Pike had to suffer through a rough 66-26 loss at the hands of Brookhaven. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Pike has scored all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Amite County, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of McComb last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Amite County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while McComb is ranked 126th).
South Pike's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Amite County, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
South Pike came out on top in a nail-biter against Amite County when the teams last played back in November, sneaking past 43-40. Does South Pike have another victory up their sleeve, or will Amite County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
