Emily Hildt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, John Carroll got a massive performance out of Kallissa Coats, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mia Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
John Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perryville only posted an OBP of .105.
Meanwhile, Maryvale Prep was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Carver A&T, sneaking past 6-4.
Reaghan S (2025) and Bettina M (2027) did most of the damage at the plate: S (2025) went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double, while M (2027) went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double. Michelina M (2028) was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
John Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Maryvale Prep, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Maryvale Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: John Carroll has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Maryvale Prep, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given John Carroll's sizable advantage in that area, Maryvale Prep will need to find a way to close that gap.
