The Schurz Bulldogs will take on the Rickover Naval Seadragons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Schurz has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Schurz will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Steinmetz College Prep, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Silver Streaks two weeks ago by a score of 16-14 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 31st.

Schurz let Hailey Wiley and Maysy Gonzalez run wild. Wiley went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyshala Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Schurz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .543 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rickover Naval was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Francis W. Parker, falling 18-8.
Emily Sanchez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Kayla Mateo was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Rickover Naval now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Schurz, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Schurz hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Rickover Naval struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Schurz suffered a grim 23-8 defeat to Rickover Naval when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
