After a string of five wins, Shabazz's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They fell just short of Cedar Grove by a score of 19-22. The defeat was a vexing one since Shabazz were expected to win based on their state ranking.
Meanwhile, Newark Collegiate Academy came into their this week averaging 33.2 points per game, but Newark Collegiate Academy fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They suffered a grim 0-21 defeat to Weequahic. The blowout was painful but not necessarily a suprise as Weequahic enjoys a considerable advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
Shabazz were fully in charge the last time the two teams met, breezing past Newark Collegiate Academy 45-0. Shabazz's victory shoved Newark Collegiate Academy out of the playoffs, so expect the team will have a target on their back in this one.
