The Welch Wildcats lost against the Cave Springs Hornets back in February of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Welch was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Cave Springs. Welch has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Welch still got an impressive performance from Mason Clinton, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joseph Clinton, who scored five points.
Even though they lost, Welch were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Welch has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Cave Springs, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Welch and South Coffeyville will face off at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Coffeyville is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. Cave Springs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oaks-Mission on January 20th.
