Basketball Recap: Hills Academy Find Success

Hills Academy came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They escaped with a win against the HALO Wolfpack by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-52 back in November.

Hills Academy was led to victory by Adrian Campbell and Tynor Parker. Campbell posted 28 points, while Parker put up 24 points. Campbell's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

HALO's loss came despite strong showings from Kenneth Haynes and Trenton Grissom. Haynes dropped a double-double on 16 points and 26 boards, while Grissom shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Haynes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mason Dukes, who had eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Hills Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for HALO, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 4-7.

Hills Academy will take on Academe of the Oaks in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hills Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests. As for HALO, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-53 defeat against Victory Baptist on the 13th.
