The Wakefield Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Sanderson, posting a 68-10 victory at home. Given Wakefield's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Sanderson is ranked 495th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lyla Bagwell, who scored 12 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. Jaya Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Wakefield pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 51.33 points. As for Sanderson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Wakefield will be home for the holidays to greet Enloe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Enloe comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Sanderson, they will head out on the road to face off against Apex Friendship at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Apex Friendship is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51 points per game.
