The Arickaree Bison entered their tilt with the Lone Star Longhorns with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went Arickaree's way against the Longhorns on Tuesday as the Bison made off with a 54-32 victory. Given Arickaree's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Longhorns are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
DILLON NOLETUBBY was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. AUSTIN WRIGHT was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lone Star's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesus Hermosillo, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hermosillo pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Kuntz, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Lone Star struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Arickaree pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Lone Star, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Arickaree will be playing at home against the Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Idalia is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Lone Star, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Belleview Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 443 points over their last six contests.
