In what's become a running theme this season, Vienna gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 63-35 win over Meridian at home. Given Vienna's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Meridian is ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carbondale suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Mt. Vernon on the road and fell 74-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Carbondale has suffered against Mt. Vernon since December 14, 2021.
Vienna is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Carbondale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-17.
