Basketball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside was the 58-47 winner over Corona when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakeside Lancers took a blow against the Corona Panthers on Wednesday, falling 68-38. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by exactly 30 points.

Lakeside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Davion Dickerson, who posted 12 points and three steals. Dickerson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Jones, who put up six points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Lakeside's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Corona, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Lakeside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Citrus Hill at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Citrus Hill will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Lakeside surely won't give up without a fight. Corona and Chaparral will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corona knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge.
