The Willow Glen Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willow Glen will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
If Willow Glen beats Ann Sobrato with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Rams beat Leigh on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Pike spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Katelynn Dilbeck was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Rebekah Tarshis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato scored first but ultimately less than Live Oak in their match last Thursday. They fell just short of the Acorns by a score of 4-3.
Ann Sobrato saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Amato, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Zoe Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Willow Glen's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Ann Sobrato's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Willow Glen has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ann Sobrato, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Willow Glen keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Willow Glen took their win against Ann Sobrato in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
