Basketball Recap: Del Oro Sets Scoring Season-High Against Amador

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Del Oro). They breezed by the Amador Buffaloes to the tune of 83-32 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Leading Del Oro to victory were Jayden Tcruz and Hayden Yarnes. Tcruz went 9 of 14 en route to 19 points along with six steals and five boards, while Yarnes went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Tcruz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Galer, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and seven boards.

Del Oro now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Amador, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Del Oro will venture away from home to square off against Yuba City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Del Oro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Amador, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bradshaw Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
