The San Marino Titans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Monrovia Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Marino had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Temple City at home to the tune of 57-7. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-7.
Coleman Morning was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Solis, who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Monrovia fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their matchup at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 54-22 win over Polytechnic. Given Monrovia's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Polytechnic is ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brian Salazar Jr, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Noah Ellison, who picked up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
San Marino's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.4 points per game. As for Monrovia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
San Marino was dealt a bruising 45-16 loss at the hands of Monrovia when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will San Marino have more luck at home instead of on the road?
