The Marine City Mariners lost against the Port Huron Red Hawks back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Marine City was beaten by Port Huron 83-53. While losing is never fun, Marine City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while Port Huron is ranked 302nd).
Marine City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Adams, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Adams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Hand, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Garrett James, who scored 16 points for Port Huron. The matchup was James' fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Marine City bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Port Huron, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Marine City will head out on the road to face off against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Richmond is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Port Huron won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bad Axe at 5:30 p.m. on December 20th. Bad Axe is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
