The Whiteland Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-29 walloping at the hands of Franklin Community. Whiteland has struggled against Franklin Community recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Whiteland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gwen Higdon, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Vondielingen, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Scarlett Kimbrell, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Erica Buening was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Whiteland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Franklin Community, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiteland will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Perry Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Perry Meridian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Franklin Community, they will head out on the road to take on Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Martinsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Franklin Community is ranked fifth).
