After a string of three wins, the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamar. Hannah-Pamplico was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lamar apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Hannah-Pamplico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Hanna. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Tylin Jenkins was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals and two blocks.
Leading Lamar to victory were Xavier "Zoom" Jackson and NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen. Jackson scored nine points along with six steals, while Quillen scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Quillen also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nygel Eaddy, who scored seven points.
Hannah-Pamplico's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hannah-Pamplico will square off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Marion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hannah-Pamplico in South Carolina (Marion is ranked 36th, while Hannah-Pamplico is ranked 230th). As for Lamar, they will head out on the road to face off against Latta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Latta has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
