Wilkes-Barre is 1-7 against Pittston since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wolfpack will host the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wilkes-Barre 3.4, Pittston 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Thursday, Wilkes-Barre beat Berwick 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Nathan Fritz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dalton Flowers, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Alex Hufford was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Pittston is still undefeated this season after their contest against Hazleton Area on Thursday, but Hazleton Area came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Cougars 6-4.
Silvio Giardina was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Montigney, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Wilkes-Barre's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pittston, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilkes-Barre has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pittston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wilkes-Barre came out on top in a nail-biter against Pittston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
