Softball Recap: Fuqua Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Fuqua won the last time they faced Tidewater Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Falcons put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-1 victory. Considering the Falcons have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Rebekah Call was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lottie Mae Hazlegrove, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Fuqua has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tidewater Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Fuqua is taking a road trip to square off against Amelia Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.5 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tidewater Academy, they will be playing at home against Southampton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
