Beachside hasn't had much luck against Fleming Island recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Beachside Barracudas will challenge the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fleming Island will be up against a hot Beachside squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Beachside blew past Interlachen 12-1 on Tuesday. Fans of the Barracudas have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kyleigh Kendall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Kendall was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Izzy Muszynski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lily Jurgens, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fleming Island got the win against Palatka on Friday by a conclusive 14-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.
Mallory Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Olivia Sikes was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Jolee Rich was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Fleming Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palatka only posted an OBP of .160.
Beachside's record now sits at 3-0. As for Fleming Island, their record now sits at 2-0.
Beachside might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Fleming Island when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Beachside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
