Orange Glen is 2-7 against Maranatha Christian since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Orange Glen's last matchup with La Jolla Country Day could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Patriots came up short against the Torreys, falling 20-1. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Frogs as they made off with a 25-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Visser and Lillian Visser made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Visser struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lillian tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hannah has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Visser went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lillian went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Hannah a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hope Fitzherbert was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Petray, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Maranatha Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .605. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Maranatha Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Orange Glen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Orange Glen suffered a grim 25-7 defeat to Maranatha Christian in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
