Softball Recap: Belmont Has No Trouble Against Stivers School for the Arts

Belmont won against Stivers School for the Arts last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Bison blew past the Tigers 13-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-6 last Tuesday.

Jaiden Burrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Burrell was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Courtney Jernigan was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Megan Leonard was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Belmont has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs this season. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belmont is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Northridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they will head out to square off against Archbishop Alter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
