Football Recap: American Canyon Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lassen

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but American Canyon had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Lassen Grizzlies as they made off with a 43-20 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Leading American Canyon to victory were Webster Burks and Andre Lopez. Burks picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Lopez rushed for 51 yards. Those 78 receiving yards gave Burks a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: American Canyon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Lassen still got an impressive performance from Dathen Moore, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 87 receiving yards and one touchdown. Moore is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season. Lassen also got a significant boost from Dowan Stephens, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.

American Canyon pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.7 points per game. As for Lassen, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

American Canyon will square off against Palmdale at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Palmdale will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something American Canyon surely won't give up without a fight. Lassen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
