Softball Recap: Mena Wins Going Away Against Clarksville

Mena never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Clarksville Panthers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Abi Koppein made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Cox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Laynie Powell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Mena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mena's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clarksville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
