After four games on the road, Glenwood is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the MacArthur Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glenwood will be strutting in after a win while MacArthur will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Glenwood has not done well against Sacred Heart-Griffin recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Glenwood narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sacred Heart-Griffin 53-50.
Makenna Yeager was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Lehnen, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but MacArthur had to settle for a 32-30 defeat against Normal University on Friday.
Glenwood pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for MacArthur, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Glenwood barely slipped by MacArthur in their previous meeting back in February, winning 49-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was MacArthur's Christina Rice, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Glenwood to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
