Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is 1-9 against Amherst since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. On Tuesday, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller ended up a good deal behind Ansley/Litchfield and lost 53-36. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 12-8 in the first quarter.

The losing side was boosted by Cohen Rohde, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Beattie, who posted eight points along with six boards and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Amherst won against Gibbon on Thursday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Amherst simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wilcox-Hildreth 62-30. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.
Amherst found their leader in sophomore Gavin Davis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Carson Riessland was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven boards.
Amherst smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Amherst has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Amherst struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Amherst in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 44-39 win.
