Graham-Kapowsin is 2-8 against Olympia since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Graham-Kapowsin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Graham-Kapowsin will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Bonney Lake on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Marley McDaniel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Nieblas, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Graham-Kapowsin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonney Lake only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Olympia entered their tilt with Yelm on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tornados.
Ava Bautista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olympia's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Mariah Martin was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Graham-Kapowsin is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Olympia, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Graham-Kapowsin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Olympia struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Graham-Kapowsin's way against Olympia when the teams last played back in March, as Graham-Kapowsin made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
