Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Somersworth Toppers walked away with it. They put the hurt on Raymond with a sharp 28-8 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for Somersworth, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Somersworth had a senior duo take command as Tayshawn Sheppard gained 169 total yards and three touchdowns and Kaden Bickford rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Somersworth's defense and their ten sacks. It was a group effort, with four guys contributing.
Somersworth's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.11 points. As for Raymond, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.
Somersworth will square off against Newport at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newport will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Raymond does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
