Richland Northeast is 2-8 against Westwood since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Westwood Redhawks at 7:30 p.m. Richland Northeast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Westwood is ranked third).
Last Friday, Richland Northeast came up short against Ridge View and fell 56-43.
Despite the defeat, Richland Northeast had strong showings from William Wilson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Ryan Scriven, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Westwood had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They came out on top against Irmo by a score of 50-39. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Westwood has scored all season.
Richland Northeast's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 11-7. As for Westwood, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.
Richland Northeast and Westwood were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but Richland Northeast came up empty-handed after a 57-56 loss. Can Richland Northeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
