The Riverside Christian Wranglers and the Cornerstone Academy Cougars will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Riverside Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Even though Meadowbrook Academy scored an imposing 57 points, Riverside Christian still came out on top. Riverside Christian snuck past Meadowbrook Academy with a 61-57 win.
Riverside Christian relied on the efforts of Kyle Spratlin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Willie Clines, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Spratlin's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jabe Taylor, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cornerstone Academy, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ocala Christian on Tuesday.
Cornerstone Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexi Xajl-melendez, who scored 12 points, and Josiah Espy who scored 11 points. Espy scored a full 30.6% of Cornerstone Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Medved, who scored six points.
Riverside Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for Cornerstone Academy, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Riverside Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cornerstone Academy when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 31-27 win. Will Riverside Christian repeat their success, or does Cornerstone Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
