The Helena Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 49-23 defeat at the hands of Pelham. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Helena in their matchups with Pelham: they've now lost nine in a row.
Helena's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklyn Kelly and Mallory Rhodes. Kelly scored seven points along with five rebounds, while Rhodes scored five points.
Pelham was led to victory by Karma Wynn and Tee King. Wynn scored 17 points along with seven steals, while King scored 17 points along with five assists and four steals. Wynn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Noble, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Helena has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Pelham, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.
Helena will head out on the road to take on Pelham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pelham is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Helena in Alabama (Pelham is ranked 40th, while Helena is ranked 174th). As for Pelham, they will look to defend their home court against Helena at 6:00 p.m. Helena is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
