After flying high against the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars last Tuesday, the Wilson Prep Tigers came back down to earth. Wilson Prep ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-46 walloping at the hands of the Jaguars on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilson Prep in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Wilson Prep saw an underclassman step up: Nakiya Boston scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Braswell, who scored six points.
Farmville Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nakevia Phillips led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaydien Joyner, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Wilson Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Farmville Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Prep will take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Halifax presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in North Carolina (the Vikings are ranked 278th, while the Tigers are ranked 564th). As for Farmville Central, they will be playing at home against the Pam Pack at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
