The Staples Wreckers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by Danbury on the road to the tune of 51-0. Considering Staples has won three matches by more than 38 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Caleb Smith was his usual excellent self, throwing for 308 yards and five touchdowns. Sam Petrosino also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Staples' victory was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.5 points per game. As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Staples will be playing at home against Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Danbury, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
