, a 6-foot-7, 315-pound offensive tackle from Bleckley County (Cochran, Ga.)
, announced Wednesday on CBS Sports HQ that he will be headed to Georgia next year. The nation's No. 6 overall high school football recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite
, chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee.
Mims is rated the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation behind Tommy Brockermeyer
of All Saints Episcopal (Fort Worth, Texas) and ahead of J.C. Latham
from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.).
Brockermeyer and Latham have both committed to Alabama.
Mims has been compared to current Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Cam Robinson, the No. 1 tackle in the nation from the Class of 2014.
"(Mims) possesses an elite combination of size and length for an offensive tackle," wrote Charles Powers of 247Sports. "Has rare length by way of long arms and big hands along with a sturdy build with room to add some muscle to his frame. ... Shows his athletic ability while playing both ways at offensive tackle and defensive end."
The SEC-bound big man has helped Bleckley County to a 4-1 start this season after the Royals went 7-4 in 2019.
