It was a good run, but the Immanuel Christian Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 70-53 bruising from Lone Pine. Immanuel Christian has struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Hopkins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Guevara, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Lone Pine found their leader in underclassman Cristian Duran, who scored 30 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duran has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alfonso Castro, who dropped a double-double on 11 assists and ten steals.
Immanuel Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Lone Pine, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Immanuel Christian will challenge the Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Baker is ranked 1314th, while the Crusaders are ranked 1300th). As for Lone Pine, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Lee Vining has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
