Pinewood Prep is 0-10 against First Baptist School since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pinewood Prep Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the First Baptist School Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Pinewood Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Pinewood Prep waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 54-38 victory over Northwood Academy. Given Pinewood Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Northwood Academy is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michael Jones was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Alexander, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, First Baptist School scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Lake Marion, posting a 75-48 win on the road. That 27 points margin sets a new team best for First Baptist School this season.
Pinewood Prep's record is now 18-8. First Baptist School's record is now 6-9.
Pinewood Prep and First Baptist School were neck-and-neck when the teams last played on January 5th, but Pinewood Prep came up empty-handed after a 56-55 loss. Can Pinewood Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
