The Corinth Warriors will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Lafayette Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd.
Corinth fell victim to Clarksdale's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 41-0 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Corinth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Clarksdale is ranked 40th).
Meanwhile, after only three points in their last match, Lafayette made sure to put some points up on the board against New Hope on Friday. Lafayette took their match at home with ease, bagging a 50-7 victory over New Hope. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-7.
Lafayette's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Thompson, who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. J'meire Jones also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Clarksdale's victory bumped their season record to 6-3 while Corinth's defeat dropped theirs to 3-7.
Corinth came out on top in a nail-biter against Lafayette when the teams last played back in August of 2014, sneaking past 17-14. Will Corinth repeat their success, or does Lafayette have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
