La Plata is on a eight-game streak of home wins, while the Eagles are on a 20-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The La Plata Bulldogs will take on the Meadville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for La Plata, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-38 loss to the Tigers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Plata has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Meadville put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Monday. They blew past Bishop LeBlond 61-38.
Meadville relied on the efforts of Madison Carvajal, who scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Korrie Holcer, who scored 22 points along with six steals. Holcer is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lexi Bartz was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five assists and four steals.
La Plata's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2. As for Meadville, their victory bumped their record up to 21-0.
La Plata took a serious blow against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 93-18. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point La Plata was down 59-6.
