Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Quinn Tenney and Gavin Owens Lead Mogollon to Victory

While Mogollon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past the St. Michael Cardinals with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 72-56. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 53-42 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.

Leading Mogollon to victory were Gavin Owens and Quinn Tenney. Owens almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds, while Tenney dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Owens is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Eric Starks was another key player, putting up seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

St. Michael's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ryan Legah, who posted 22 points, and Logan Terry, who put up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Bahe, who posted six points along with nine boards and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Mogollon and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Mogollon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-43 victory against Round Valley on the 3rd. As for St. Michael, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 78-59 win against Valley on the 2nd.
