The Glenvar Highlanders can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 75-63 victory over William Byrd. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Glenvar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Dawyot out in front who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dawyot has scored at least a third of Glenvar's points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Hylton, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Glenvar's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for William Byrd, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenvar's homestand continues as they prepare to take on James River at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Glenvar has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 254 points over their last four games. As for William Byrd, they and Staunton River will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. William Byrd has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
