The Iola Mustangs's game on Friday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Chanute 64-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Iola in their matchups with the Blue Comets: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Iola still got an impressive performance from Cortland Carson, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That was a full 36.2% of Iola's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Weide, who scored 20 points.
Iola's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Chanute, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iola will take on the Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie View is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Chanute, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Fort Scott has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
