The Hand Tigers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past Amity Regional 46-0 on the road. Given Hand's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Amity Regional is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Hand to victory were Aidan Dolan and Jack Shay. Dolan rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Shay threw for 150 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Shay hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Sam Markovitz was in the mix too, providing Hand with two touchdowns.
Hand's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Amity Regional and 2-6 Fairfield Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32% over those games). As for Amity Regional, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hand will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sheehan at 6:30 p.m. on November 16th. Sheehan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Amity Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilbur Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilbur Cross comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
