Charleston suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. Their tough 81-55 loss to Goreville might stick with them for a while. Charleston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-25.
Charleston's loss came about despite a quality game from Ko'terrion Owens, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Owens has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshaun Henderson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's earned a 64-51 victory over Ritenour on January 5th. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Ritenour is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Charleston's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for St. Mary's, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
