The Conestoga Cougars came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 62-51 victory over Syracuse. 62 seems to be a good number for Conestoga as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Noah Simones was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with three steals. Zachariah Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Conestoga pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Syracuse, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga will face off against Fort Calhoun at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fort Calhoun is ranked 30th, while Conestoga is ranked 46th). As for Syracuse, they will head out on the road to take on Douglas County West on Tuesday. Douglas County West is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
